on creating new neural pathways
& living from the parasympathetic nervous system, plus a grounding earth meditation for your new moon ritual 🕊️
Hello, beloved subscribers! It’s a warm, sunny fall day in Denver, and I am so utterly grateful to be alive. I was in a pretty serious car crash almost two weeks ago. I was driving down Colfax and out of nowhere, a sprinter van charged into my car from my right side. My airbags deployed and the impact dragged our vehicles into the middle of a busy 4-lane roadway. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that awful smell of gas and mangled car parts…but thank god I was driving a car that kept me safe. My car is totaled and was deemed a complete loss, but aside from the emotional trauma and a sore neck & back, I’m physically okay.
Before the accident, I was working with my therapists on living from my parasympathetic nervous system. For my entire life, I’ve lived from the sympathetic—that fight or flight state—tending to emergency after emergency, crisis after crisis*. I got used to waking up to traumatic messages, spending all my energy putting out fires—and just as I thought I solved one crisis, another would emerge. Living from this sympathetic state helped me survive an extraordinary amount of hardship. But I am finally, gloriously, in my next evolution. I’m in a place of safety and abundance, and it’s time to upgrade my operating system to go along with it.
